Support the canvas across its full width and keep it taut enough for the look you want. Place the subject close for visible texture, or create distance and open the aperture for a softer, more abstract field of colour.

  • Use clamps on a stable background support
  • Roll rather than sharply fold for storage
  • Light from the side to reveal stronger relief
  • Allow more subject distance for a softer background
